Comments on the Diagram

Pin a comment exactly where it belongs on the diagram, the way you would on a design. Everyone who opens the diagram sees a numbered bubble there.

Comment mode

Press C, or click Comment in the bar at the bottom of the diagram. The cursor becomes a crosshair. Press C again or Esc to leave.

In comment mode, click where you want the comment:

  • on empty space: the bubble stays at that spot;
  • on an element: the bubble is attached to it and follows it when it moves, and the discussion also appears in the element's details panel;
  • on a relationship: the bubble sits halfway along it.

Write the comment, with @ to mention someone and # to cite an element, a decision or a page, then click Comment or press ⌘ Enter (Ctrl Enter on Windows and Linux). Comment mode closes and the discussion opens.

Clicking an existing bubble in comment mode opens it instead of adding a new one on top.

Bubbles

Each pinned discussion gets a number in the project: #1, #2, and so on. Bubbles keep the same size whatever the zoom.

A bubble belongs to the level and the view it was placed in. A comment pinned on the system context does not show inside a system, and one placed inside a system shows only there.

Discussing

Click a bubble to open its discussion:

  • read the comment and its replies;
  • reply, with mentions and citations;
  • Resolve it once it is settled, or Reopen it;
  • open the full discussion page, where you can react or turn a comment into a task.

A pinned discussion is an ordinary discussion: it is listed with the project's discussions, its replies notify the people in it, and the followers of the element are told about it.

Resolved comments

Resolved bubbles are hidden. To see them, enter comment mode and tick Show resolved: they appear greyed out, with a check.

Current limits

  • A bubble cannot be moved once placed.
  • A relationship's bubble sits halfway between its two elements, not on the curve of the line.
  • Bubbles are hidden while Time Travel is open.
