Built-in Widgets: Architecture Dashboards Without External Integrations

When we launched the Marketplace last month, we heard the same thing from several teams: "The integrations are great, but we don't use Datadog. We don't use PagerDuty. Can we still get dashboards?"

Fair point. Not every organization runs the same observability stack. But every organization using Archyl already has architecture insights. They have DORA metrics from their releases. They have ADRs, a technology stack, an activity feed, C4 model statistics. All of this data exists — it was just locked inside feature pages, requiring you to navigate to each one individually.

Built-in widgets change that. They take data that Archyl already computes and let you pin it anywhere: project dashboards, organization views, or alongside your C4 diagrams. Zero configuration. No API keys. No external connections.

The Widgets

Architecture Health

Three widgets that surface your architecture insights as dashboard elements.

Insights Counter — A single number showing how many insights exist for a project or the entire organization. Filter by severity — show only critical issues, or the total count. When this number goes up, something in your architecture needs attention.

Insights by Type — A breakdown of all insights grouped by rule type: single point of failure, high coupling, circular dependencies, orphaned components, missing documentation. The list view makes it easy to see which categories of issues dominate your architecture.

Architecture Health — A traffic-light status widget. Green when no critical or high-severity insights exist. Yellow when there are high-severity issues. Red when critical issues are present. The simplest possible answer to "is our architecture healthy?" — visible at a glance, updated in real-time.

DORA Metrics

Three widgets that bring your DevOps performance metrics out of the DORA page and onto your dashboards.

DORA Metric — A counter showing a single DORA metric value: deployment frequency, lead time for changes, change failure rate, or mean time to restore. Pick the metric that matters most to your team and pin it where everyone can see it.

DORA Performance Level — A status widget showing your overall DORA classification: Elite, High, Medium, or Low. Based on the industry benchmarks from the DORA research program. When your team drops from Elite to High, the widget turns from green to blue. When it drops further, it goes yellow, then red.

DORA Trend — A graph widget showing how a DORA metric has evolved over the last 90 days. Deployment frequency trending up? Lead time trending down? The graph tells the story at a glance, without opening the full metrics page.

Releases

Two widgets that keep your deployment activity visible.

Release Counter — Total number of releases for a project. Simple, but surprisingly useful as a measure of delivery velocity. Teams that ship frequently see this number climb — and they like seeing it climb.

Recent Releases — A list of the most recent releases with version, status (deployed, planned, in progress, rolled back), and date. The last five deployments, always visible, always current.

Architecture Decisions

ADR Status — Architecture Decision Records grouped by status: accepted, proposed, deprecated, superseded. Shows how many decisions are active, how many are under discussion, and how many have been retired. Filter by specific statuses to focus on what matters.

Technology Radar

Tech Radar — The top technologies used across your architecture, ranked by usage across elements and relationships. At the organization level, it shows your entire technology landscape. At the project level, it shows only the technologies attached to that project's components. A snapshot of your tech stack, always up to date.

Activity

Activity Feed — Recent changes across your architecture: new components created, relationships updated, ADRs accepted, releases deployed. The same data that lives on the History page, but as a compact widget you can pin to any dashboard. When someone asks "what changed this week?", the answer is already visible.

Infrastructure

Organization Usage — A counter showing key usage metrics: total projects, total members, AI discoveries used, and other subscription-level data. Useful for platform teams tracking adoption across the organization.

Environment Status — The latest release status for each deployment environment: production, staging, development. Shows which version is running where, and whether the last deployment was successful. The deployment matrix, condensed into a single widget.

Model Statistics

C4 Stats — Element counts for a project's C4 model: number of systems, containers, components, code elements, and relationships. A quick health indicator for model completeness. If a project has 12 containers but only 3 components, the model probably needs more detail.

No Setup Required

That's the point. These widgets use data Archyl already has. There's nothing to configure, nothing to connect, nothing that can break.

Go to any project, click Integrations in the sidebar, and add a widget. Under the "Built-in" section, you'll see all 14 widgets. Pick one, optionally configure a filter (which DORA metric, which insight severity, which ADR statuses), and it appears on your dashboard.

Organization-level widgets work the same way — they aggregate data across all projects, giving leadership a single view of architectural health, delivery velocity, and technology adoption.

Why Built-in Matters

External integrations are powerful. Connecting Datadog or Sentry surfaces operational data that Archyl can't generate on its own. But built-in widgets serve a different purpose: they make Archyl's own intelligence visible and accessible.

Before built-in widgets, you had to navigate to the Insights page to check architecture health, then to the DORA page to check delivery performance, then to the Releases page to see what shipped, then to the Technology page to review the tech stack. Five pages, five mental context switches, five separate views of the same system.
